Ordained a minister of the gospel in 1998, Elder Sandy (as she prefers to be called) has worked with her husband, Lead Pastor Robert Thrash, since the inception of this ministry. She also worked alongside her mother-in-law, Supt. Victoria L. Thrash to grow the ministry and carry out the vision God had given to her, its founder.
She sometimes jokes that she has held almost every position at A.R.M.E.D. except that of Men Ministries Director. She continues to work in the ministry in various capacities. Her heart, though, is teaching. She is an avid student of God’s Word and loves to share it with others.
She is the mother of five: Bruce, Tania, Nicole, Rob IV, and Shari. She loves (and spoils) her eight grandchildren: Cornelio (C.J.), Victoria (Tori), Ojani, Ozmel, Brooke, Sye, Nicholas and Leah. “If I had known it was this much fun being a grandparent, I would have skipped the children.”
In her spare time she:
Loves, loves, loves to read
Does Crossword Puzzles
Loves to cook for her extended family
Trivia: One of 14 children and was born in Connecticut.
The A.R.M.E.D. Church has a rich heritage that spans four decades. The late District Supt. Victoria L. Thrash answered God’s call and planted Christ-Centered Apostolic Church in Inglewood in 1976. She remained our fearless leader until her death in 1993. Dr. Robert Thrash III then became Lead Pastor. Desiring to further shape the ministry and the lives of those connected to it, Dr. Thrash prayerfully chose five words that would be the standard:
Accountable; Responsible; Mature; Equipped; Disciplined (A.R.M.E.D.).
The A.R.M.E.D. Church is constantly seeking ways to be innovative and effective; a place where believers actually enjoy gathering for fellowship and worship. We’re not bound by traditions like dress codes, restrictions on make-up and jewelry, the format of our Sunday gatherings, and music. Like James and Peter spoke to the Gentiles in the book of Acts, we do not place unreasonable expectations and requirements on the members of The A.R.M.E.D. Church. We do, however, hold each other accountable for living holy, as God requires.
